Can PM Suryodaya Yojana bring Solar Revolution in India?
On 22nd January 2024, Whole India witnessed the inauguration of Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhaya. This auspicious event was witnessed by millions through digital media.
Later on, on the same day one more significant event took place. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Suryoday Yojana.
In his tweet he announced that very soon, the government is going to Announce the Pradhan Mantri Suryoday Yojana.
What is Suryoday Yojana ?
Let’s now understand what this scheme is about.
Suryoday Yojana is a scheme that is going to focus on installation of Solar Rooftops in buildings or houses. The objective is to reduce the dependence on traditional Grids and make use of more sustainable and renewable energy source — The Solar energy.
The government has set the target to complete 1 Crore Solar Rooftop Installations under this scheme.
Is PM Suryodaya Yojana Going to be a Game Changer?
Answer to this question depends on how well the set target of solar rooftop installations met. If this target is met, there is no doubt this scheme will bring solar revolution in India.
As per a report from The Wire, out of total energy consumption in India, around 77% is obtained from non-renewable sources out of which of which 72.5% came from coal, 4.2% came from natural gas and 0.3% came from oil. So, the remaining 2023 comes from Non Renewable energy sources.
If this scheme is implemented properly, India might reduce the dependency on Renewable energy significantly and by 2030 we might expect the Ratio of the usage to be 1:1.
Very soon, the Guidelines related to the Suryodaya scheme will be released and we will have more information on the same. It would be interesting to see how people respond to this scheme.
